I'm not sure if this topic will be a bit taboo, but it could be advised that every once in a while the rats are given live insects to eat as this is about as close to their natural diet as you could get. Me and Nathan gave our girls some mealworm once and they loved them. however, watching them rip of a squirming insects head and suck out it's insides was a little too much for me to bear!!!

I agree our girls did love eating live mealworm. Their are a great treat as long as you dont mind picking them up when they are wriggling.

I love watching my rats with meal worms. You sometimes see them holding the worm and sort of trying to chase it round in circles as it wriggles continuously round and round. Lol.

One time i was feed midget meal worm on my bed and she tipped the entire tub over. I had meal worm all over my bed running around between the sheets, it took me hours to catch them all. As you can imagine i didnt sleep very well for a few nights

The ones i bought were definately hollow inside, i dont know if mine were a bad batch or not but the rats were not too impressed by them anyways.
